PRODUCT HISTORY
Premiered: 2019-2024 Edition: Sold out / Discontinued / Will not be reissued
By far, this must be the most highly detailed and accurate representation we have ever produced in toy form of ships and sets from a TV show.
Even now, after their release, I still am amazed at the level of detail, intricacy and accuracy off the Micro Eagle Transporters that measure just 6cm in length. The pierced cages, the removable pods, the tiny nuclear waste barrels complete with working magnetic grab, real turned aluminium engine bells and even an 3mm Moonbuggy with decals! These are beautiful replicas at a micro scale that we are very proud of.
So, what could complement such a range - how about an in-scale Electronic Alpha Launch Pad not only with light up landing pad lights, a dozen original sound effects, actual dialogue from the series and an exclusive Micro Eagle One... but even an actual working docking tube that extends and retracts for Eagle lift off and landings. Who would have thought a docking tube moving at a couple of millimetres a minute could be so exciting!
This micro range was to be the start of a whole world of Space: 1999 Micro vehicles and ships, but due to landslide changes in manufacturing costs since 2020 it became financially unviable to continue. Still this Electronic Launch Pad set, and four Micro Eagles remain a superb piece of Space: 1999 product history.
Plans were in developed to produce an 1/72 scale Alpha Launch pad with lights and sound to complement our extensive 12inch Eagle Die Cast Collection with a fully working prototype being produced. Due to the vast size of this proposed release, great thought was given to designing it in a modular fashion allowing for the set to be packed away. The release was also to include an exclusive and all new version of our 12inch Die Cast Rescue Eagle. Sadly, and quite surprisingly, the response to this item didn't not get us close to being able to invest in its manufacture.
A big Thank You to Mike Burrows for his amazing photographs that managed to capture the intricacies and accuracy of these stunning tiny replicas.
