PRODUCT HISTORY

Premiered: 2005
Edition: Sold out / Discontinued / Will not be reissued

We had avoided the Thunderbird licence as at this time as Corgi were producing a range of Die Cast vehicles and it would have been foolish to compete in such a small marketplace.

Captain Scarlett, however, was an obvious choice from which to release classic Die Cast vehicles. Or so we thought.

Originally planning to release an SPV, a Spectrum Patrol Car, a Maximin Security Vehicle and an Angel Interceptor, after the poor response to our Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle, it was decided investment in further tooling and production was not prudent. 10,000 units were manufactured.

It was a real shame as our SPV was, in my opinion, one of the best Gerry Anderson Die Cast vehicles we produced. The level of detail, particularly the weathering, going for painted on panel lines as per the studio model, rather than heavy etched panel lines made for a stunning representation and elevated it to more a display model than just a toy.

My only regret was missing that the detail on the smaller wheel hubs should have been circular and not slots as on the larger hubs before we went into production.

Still the best Die Cast SPV ever produced, even today, and a shame it was never joined by other vehicles from the series.
